The Kyoto Protocol …

The Kyoto Protocol basically splits the world into two categories: developed countries and developing countries.
Developed countries which are signatories have committed to targets of carbon reduction which they are obliged to meet by law.  Their citizens/industries can do this by:

  • Making their industrial processes cleaner.
  • To the extent that they cannot do this themselves they can purchase carbon credits from companies or projects in developing countries which capture/pr vente greenhouse emissions.
