It is easily transported on a light commercial vehicle or pick-up, and has proved its popularity in Africa over the last seven years, according to the distributors.
The saw mill has light but strong aluminium rails and the cutting head is fitted with removable wheels for easy moving.
Any size or diameter of logs of any species can be cut accurately on the Lucas Mill. And it can also cut more than one log at the same. Large boards can be produced by spinning the power head around and cutting from both sides. Four models are available to suit any application. Prices range from about $7,500 to $13,000.
These saw mills are known for their reliability and accurate cutting in any terrain, according to Nukor Sawmilling, sole distributer of Lucas Mills in southern Africa.
All the machines are test-run and aligned in real life conditions. No machines leave the factory without first cutting timber. This ensures that all components are assembled and operating correctly before being shipped, says Nukor. The Company has been installing sawmilling equipment for over 45 years.
