The Zambia Cooperative Federation (ZCF) plans to set up milling plants in selected provincial centres to mill the maize grown by cooperative societies.
ZCF has prioritised milling because of demand from consumers across the country, and to ensure self-sufficiency in mielie meal – once the plants became operational – which will help to reduce prices of the commodity.
ZCF is also focusing on the value-addition chain. It plans to import small machines that can be used to add value to various agro products like mangoes and other fruits. – Times of Zambia
