Huhtamaki Van Leer’s MVP system has hitherto been restricted to a medium-size machine with capacity to pack 8ton per eight-hour shift, costing about $25,000. This machine has primarily been used by the cashew nut industry. Now, in order to accommodate more industries, both a small and large packing machine have been launched. The smaller machine is a single-chamber vacuum unit with a simple, stand-alone compactor. The compactor, which is activated by a foot switch, acts both as a vibrator and a scale. This machine has the capacity to pack 1-2t in an eight-hour shift and costs about $14,000.
The large machine allows packing of 50lb (22.6kg) packs and has a capacity to pack 15-20t per shift. It costs $38,000.
