The processor can produce up to 150 litres a day from vegetable oils – including heavily used cooking oils.
Although the processor is easily operated and maintained, and can be up and running on the day of delivery, it is not a hobby kit, says James Hygate, managing director of Green Fuels, manufacturer of the equipment. It is a complete processing unit engineered from quality materials.
He says the processor is based on an American design which Green Fuels improved by incorporating filtration, oil preheating and methanol recovery modules.
The process uses vegetables oil such as rape seed or sunflower oil. Added to this is methanol, tap water and electricity. The system is “closed” so no pouring or stirring involved and the catalyst comes in pre-measured packets. The methanol is reused in the process. Glycerine is the only byproduct.
The 150l/day capacity processor, the FuelMeister 150LE, costs ₤4,000. A larger processor, with a capacity of 300l/day is available for ₤5,000. The company also offers small scale seed press systems for farm use.
